My Journey into SNF’s

Hi, I’m Kevin Baker, and I’m passionate about helping break down the barriers between Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) operators and their data. I developed DashboardHC as the ultimate tool to accomplish this. Our mission is to elevate the way you work. We want to help your team go from preparing and running numbers to analyzing them to make better decisions.

I'd like to share my story of how DashboardHC came to be.My passion for solving problems using technology can be traced back to when I was a young kid at my grandfathers house. I would go there everyday after school. In his library, he had a cutting-edge computer and a book about programming. I started to learn and write simple programs. That's when I first fell in love with software development!Fast-forward to my first job out of college. I joined the finance team of a large biomedical manufacturing company. They used this new and powerful planning & reporting tool called OutlookSoft (today it is known as SAP BPC or EPM). This tool was incredible, it allowed analysts to automatically pull data for monthly reports, financial models & slide decks for presentations. You could also submit numbers to create budgets, targets and do planning!I fell in love with the technology, analytical cubes. In that role, I learned how the system worked and began bringing that same technology, to all of my future employers. It revolutionized how accounting & finance worked, and it also helped create innovative solutions for the operations.I took this same technology to the Ensign Group (ENSG), where I lead the data services team for many years. It was in this role where I fell in love with the post acute industry. I was able to bring great technology and tools into a space where people are truly caring for others.

That’s when the light bulb flipped on!

Larger operators can afford to have dedicated data teams that continually work to bring data together and help make it more useful. The majority of the SNF industry are smaller operators who can't afford incredible tools.

At the PointClickCare (PCC) conference in 2018, they had a quote, "Data is the new oil." What this means is that managing & effectively using data will be a significant factor in having a successful SNF business going forward. But as of today, only the large operators can afford to be at the cutting edge. We want to help bring great systems & tools to operators of all sizes.
